Scarborough - Yorkshire- England

Scarborough- A seaside town

The Royal Hotel is a good place to stay in Scarborough. It is near the sand and sea. There is a good view of the seafront and the North Sea. The castle looks spectacular too. Food and accommodation is of the best quality. It is little wonder that Winstan Churchill and Charles Laughton enjoyed staying here.

Scarborough Castle is very imposing. There are two ways to get there. They are both nice little walks.
Walk one. Leave hotel, cross road to the steps near Queen Victoria's statue. These lead to the sea front. Stroll towards the harbour, taking in the sea air as you go. Once at the cliffs walk up the steps and follow the path to the castle entrance.

Here you can visit the castle or visit the historic church near by. Here there is the grave of Charlotte Bronte's sister, Anne. Wonder on down to the road. Turn left and this will bring you back to the railway station. A left turn and you can window shop or go inside them to buy things. You take a right turn and you're back at the Royal Hotel.

The other way is to wonder through the shops and do the walk in the opposite direction. That was the way I did the walk. A more relaxing walk but you have to climb the steps back to the hotel.

Which ever way you go you'll be able to enjoy your favourite drink once you're back at the hotel.

If its a really hot day and you need a drink while you're on the walk don't worry it does take you passed several friendly pubs. Some of which have been visited by royalty.

This is a great route to take lovely pictures so don't forget to take the camera.

After your stroll ( or before it) you may wish to send a postcard to your family and friends. Just click on your favourite image and you'll be able to do just that. Add music to your e-card and send per instructions.

Wonderful!
Real postcards can be bought from reception and cost 50p each.
